Calgary - Educere
International College
This
summer was full of excitement and adventures for our students. In the
month of August, our students had a chance to go to Drumheller. They
visited the museum where the world's largest collection of dinosaur
remains and explored the site of the biggest dinosaur excavations. Our
students had a positive attitude toward their classmates, and this brought
them a lot closer. They were also cheerful and well united and therefore
their learning and joining of activities was fun and enjoyable. Our
students enjoyed the various sporting events mostly. So, EIC (www.educere.ca)
will continue to have the sport events in our September's Activities.
Calgary International Film Festival is also coming. Many local, national
and international films will be shown at various theatres downtown.
As for the weather, it was wonderful this summer, and we hope to have
a gorgeous Indian summer this September.
Ottawa
- Interlangues Language Center
It
was a beautiful and busy summer with exciting cultural activities here
at Interlangues
in Ottawa. We have gone biking along the world famous Rideau Canal (site
of the World's Longest Skating Rink in the winter), and we took a field
trip south to visit Upper
Canada Village along the St. Lawrence River. The students had a
fabulous time exploring what life was like back in the 1860's, going
on a hay-ride, eating authentic, old-fashioned food and taking a ride
in a horse-drawn barge.
Upcoming this fall is our annual trip to
enjoy the autumn foliage in Gatineau Park, a national park just minutes
away from downtown Ottawa. We will also visit Saunder's Farm to participate
in their Halloween activities such as the haunted house, navigating
the mazes and hayrides.
With the onset of the new school year, we
would like to wish the best to our some of our younger students, Iimun
from Korea, and Cedrick, Christian, and Yannick from the Congo who will
all be attending high school here in Canada after a summer of preparation
at Interlangues.
Vancouver - Canadian as a Second Language
Institute
Live on Japan Radio!
September
3rd was an exciting day as CSLI hosted a live broadcast to Japan radio
stations promoting Vancouver and studying English at CSLI. Special thanks
to Tourism Vancouver, famous radio personality Ryohei Sakuraba and his
and his crew from Nippon Hoso for coming all this way for the broadcast.
This is a joint promotion with JTB, Tourism Vancouver and Canadian College
of English Language for our new Golden Experience package for senior
students that include half-time study and then cultural activities in
the
afternoon with Canadians. After a day of classes, salsa lessons, and
a flight to Victoria, everyone was invited for sunset dinner at the
directors' home at the end of the day.
In-school Dormitory Available Now!
Starting this month (September 27/28) we
have room available at our popular dormitory, located downtown at CSLI.
Close to all the action in a safe, trendy part of Vancouver, and you
don't have to spend time or money on any traveling! Book early as we
have limited space available. Student nationalities are mixed to make
sure this remains an English experience!

Montreal - POINT3
Language Center
In
the coming weeks at POINT3
we will be continuing our International Cultural
Presentations that we began with our Liechtenstein exposition
on August 15th. These presentations are an excellent opportunity for
our students to learn about the countries of their fellow classmates.
First, on September 9th our students will get a chance to practice their
paddling techniques when they get a hands-on lesson in some Chinese
Dragon Boats. Then
to celebrate Mexican Independence Day on September 16th, we're having
some home-made Mexican food, along with a look at the evolution of Mexican
music, from the Aztec times, to Ranchero, to modern pop and rock.
Our students are also
looking forward to a Montréal Expos baseball game. The
Expos are still hanging in there, battling it out with a few other teams
for the wildcard spot. The crowds have been loud and boisterous, and
the baseball has been some of the best this city has seen in years.
We are definitely looking forward to going to a game at the Olympic
Stadium on September 13th!
This month at POINT3,
we're offering one week free to anyone who registers for 4 weeks or
more of Intensive French or English. This special is only for the month
of September, so hurry and register now!
Toronto - Village
English
New Students from Everywhere for Fall!!
Village
English is proud to announce that on September 8 we had our biggest
new student intake of the year, an encouraging sign that many students
of the world may have just postponed, not cancelled, their plans to
study in the Toronto area during the recent SARS scare. In many ways,
they were wise to wait; autumn in our area is considered by many as
the best and most beautiful time to visit, with nice warm days for seeing
the sights and cool evenings perfect for going out on the town. The
Village English family now includes students from Mexico, France, Japan,
Korea, Poland, Liechtenstein, Canada (Quebec), Switzerland, Italy and
Colombia. To celebrate the end of a great summer and the beginning of
a new season, Village English staff and students organized one of the
most successful social events at the school in years, held in a rooftop
garden at the home of one of our popular Village English teachers. With
a great rooftop view overlooking the Village of Streetsville and our
beloved Credit River, each student and staff member brought a type of
food typical to their home country and enjoyed an evening of music,
friendship, and a lot of fun. In keeping with the Village English mission
of getting our students involved with members of our community, a group
of Canadian students from a nearby college attended the party and many
new friends were made -- all while speaking English of course! For more
information on Village English, visit

Victoria - Canadian
College of Business and Language
The Canadians Are Coming
International
students studying English language at Canadian College are looking forward
to the return of our wild and crazy film & acting students. When
the digital film and acting students graduated in July, many of our
international students said that the atmosphere in the computer lab
and student area had changed and they said they preferred to mix daily
with the Canadian students. Well, the new classes begin September 29th
and the mix will begin. Keep your ears open for news of a Friday night
beer party in the film studio.
Summer & Winter Sports, All Winter Long
Golf
in Victoria year round is definitely possible but many students don't
realize that when they choose Victoria as an ESL destination. Students
are always surprised when November and December arrive and they are
still able to play tennis or golf after school or on weekends. They
are even more surprised when they realize that a Victoria winter means
you can play tennis, golf, scuba dive and ski or snowboard all in the
same weekend, all winter long. Wow, what a place, but don't tell too
many people that Victoria is not experience snow like the rest of Canada
or we will quickly become overpopulated. For more information on activities
or our FREE Friday activities, visit us at www.canadiancollege.ca.
TOEFL & TOEIC Preparation Beefed Up
TOEIC and TOEFL Preparation programs will
continue throughout the fall and winter programs due to the high demand
by both students and agents. Enrollment will be limited so we recommend
that you register early. For more information, contact Paula at paula@cdncollege.bc.ca.
Charlottetown - Study Abroad Canada
Here
come the fall colours. Fall is coming and the leaves will soon begin
to change colour. If you enjoy seeing orange, yellow and red leaves,
the middle of September to the middle of October is the time to come.
The leaves are still on into later October, but a few windy days and
they all come off.
In September and October some of our activities
include: canoeing on a peaceful river, looking at the fall foliage;
visiting an apple orchard to taste some apples right from the tree (it
doesn't get any fresher than that); the students and staff will prepare
a traditional thanksgiving turkey dinner in the demonstration kitchen
of a local grocery store; and we will have our annual Halloween Party
with pumpkin carving contest and bonfire. Lots of Canadian fun for everyone.
If you are booking to start your program in the
next two weeks you can still get free tickets to the Anne of Green Gables
Musical. It runs until September 27th.
For a real bargain, start a program of 8-weeks
or more and choose the Study
Abroad Canada dormitory as your accommodations and receive a discount
of $200 per month.
