Ottawa:
Tulips, Theatre and TOEFL:
The month of May fit Interlangues to a "T"! The advanced class has been
preparing for the TOEFL exam: good luck guys! This month our cultural
activities focused on Theatre and the Tulip Festival. The theatre activity
was organized and performed by the students themselves ("We did stories
about subway trouble, renting an apartment, and a TV show. We finished
the stories and then did some improvisations in which students and teacher
participated together. We all enjoyed ourselves greatly!" Masaki, Intermediate
student) . The students also had the opportunity to visit the annual
Tulip Festival and enjoy the Ottawa spring outdoors! ("Several countries
introduce their own traditions at this festival. The tulips are greatly
beautiful as there are many different colors. We took a lot of pictures,
which showed us a grand sight with many natural hues. If you have a
chance I strongly recommend visiting the Tulip Festival!" Min, Intermediate
student) Now that you've caught a glimpse, check us out at
www.interlangues.ca for more information on our many programs and
activities!
Montreal:
And Baby Makes Trois:
Congratulations to Yuriko and Hugues for addition to the Point3 and
CanadaWide family! She reports: "Thank you so much for the lovely flowers
and warm wishes. We are back home and getting adjusted to life à trois.
Hayako made her grand entrance a week early and we couldn't be happier.
She has been great so far despite not feeding enough, but slowly we
are getting used to each other and are finding our rhythm." Yuriko epects
to be back in time to greet all Point 3's Summer program students. Look
out for CanadaWide specials in the Montreal area next month.

Mississauga:
Festival Time!
The whole Village English family (students, staff, host families) is
busy preparing for the town's annual Bread & Honey Festival, one of
the best-known community festivals in Ontario, which takes place June
6-8 right here in Streetsville. With our city of Mississauga completely
SARS-free (no active cases) and summer on its way, the festival expects
record attendance this year. The festival's parade, with over 25,000
spectators and extensive television coverage, is a spectacular event.
Our students have chosen a "music of the world theme" for this year's
parade entry. As the students make their way down the main street, music
from each student's country (we currently have students from 12 different
countries) will be played and each student will dance wrapped in his/her
own country's flag. Two years ago, the Village English entry won first
prize in the parade from a field of more than one hundred organizations;
we're hoping to win back our title with a great entry this year! As
part of the festival, students will also enjoy live bands all weekend
throughout the village, an amusement park, community barbeques, and
canoe races on the Credit River, which runs just behind our school.
This time of year is also a great time to get involved in the community;
in the month of May, 92% of our students were involved in volunteer
work in our community. Recent volunteer projects have included participation
in one of the busiest pavilions in Mississauga's Carassauga caravan
of cultures, organization and staffing at the International Children's
festival, and greeting and talking to community members at the Village
English booth at the Heritage Mississauga fair.

With our new location in the heart of downtown Streetsville, students
are finding more than ever how easy it is to be a part of a genuine
Canadian community.

Talk
to Ben and Save $200!
My name is Benjamin Sherren and I am pleased to introduce myself as
the new International Business Manager for the CanadaWide English Network.
Over the last five years CanadaWide has offered English students the
wonderful chance of studying in Canada and traveling at the same time
to visit one or more of our seven partner schools. This Fly-for-Free
package continues to be our central program and we are looking forward
to its continued success. On top of this, CanadaWide now has a Central
Office for all of the partner schools. This means students and agents
can access all the seven partner schools through one registration form,
and one point of contact, me. Agents can promote any of our partner
schools they wish and have the simplicity of one central point of contact.
While individual students only need to send one email to find the perfect
school for them.
As an added bonus, book now for any program starting in July or August
and receive a $200.00 registry discount but only at: www.canadawide-english.com/cwenreg.htm

Toronto:
SARS Update
In response to some new cases, Canadian health authorities instituted
further quarantines, containment, and preventative measures. Spread
still appears to be limited to hospital settings (and possibly to the
son of a hospital worker) and the Toronto community at large is not
considered to be in danger. WHO (World Health Organisation) has not
issued any travel advisory against Toronto and the city remains open
for business. It is still very safe to come to study in Toronto and
Canada . More information.
