KIOSK
International - Toronto, Ontario
The
month of November is a month of great change. The trees loose their leaves
for the winter, the weather changes almost every day, and the first snowflakes
fall on Toronto. November is also the month when KIOSK students get their
annual flu vaccinations to protect themselves from winter colds and flu.
Activity leader Taso is planning a series of international dinners, school
parties, visits to museums and music concerts. Come and join Taso and
all the students at KIOSK to enjoy the pre-Christmas celebrations like
decorating the Christmas tree and singing Christmas songs. Over the holidays,
Taso will be taking students ice-skating, snowboarding and skiing. Winter
is the perfect time to enjoy the unique pleasures of Canada, and the special
attention that all international students get at KIOSK.

High School Preparation - High School Bridge
It is that time of year and Canadian College staff are very busy providing
assistance to our many agents who are themselves providing assistance
to teens worldwide who have a dream of attending either private or public
High School in Canada but are not ready. Both our High School Preparation

Study Abroad Canada - Charlottetown, Prince Edward
Island
Our
Halloween party was a huge success! This year, students and staff brought
food to share at the Halloween potluck lunch and everyone also brought
along great costumes. Michael Jackson (shown in red) won the prize for
best costume. I think it was his moonwalking and single glove that helped
win that prize! Congratulations to Michael! Students also proved that
they are excellent cooks and everyone left with their tummies full!
Christmas
is coming! The stores are decorated, shoppers are busy buying presents,
and Santa is in town! Students recently enjoyed the annual Christmas parade
in Charlottetown and Santa's arrival. We would be delighted to have you
spend Christmas with us in Prince Edward Island. Join our one or two week
Christmas program. You will cut and decorate a Christmas tree, go on a
sleigh ride (bring on the snow!), visit Green Gables House and do more
exciting activities. If you have more questions, please contact us at
webinfo@eccl.ca. For more information
about our Christmas program, visit: http://www.eccl.ca/programs/xmas.htm
Interlangues Language School - Ottawa, Ontario
Birthday Month!
Two
of our teachers celebrated their birthdays this month – on the same
day! We celebrated in true Canadian style; with Tim Horton’s and
a “surprise” birthday party. This month we have gone to both
the Museum of Civilization and the Museum of Nature. We are so lucky to
have such a vast choice of museums at our disposal. The seat of the Canadian
government is also located in Ottawa. Our students, the French Canadian
students in particular were interested in seeing where our government
works and the process. Participants from our conversation program have
begun applying for the volunteer positions. There are many ways that Interlangues
students can help the community and this help is always welcome!
November is a month of remembrance, and being the
Nation’s Capital, the national ceremony is hosted downtown at the
war memorial. The students chose to attend this ceremony with their teachers
to pay their respects to those lost fighting for our country. In the days
before the ceremony, there were many questions about the poppy and how
it came to be the symbol of remembrance. This issue was the basis for
many interesting lessons, discussions and reflections on war and peacekeeping.

POINT3 Language Center! - Montreal, Quebec
Aaahhh, it looks like winter is on its way to Montreal... but then that's
one of the great things about visiting Canada, eh? We've been taking advantage
of the unusually mild autumn weather. Many students have been enjoying
Montreal, observing the beautiful fall scenery on the week-ends...
Halloween at POINT3!
Carving
pumpkins? This was the reaction of many of our students, who had never
done this before. They
were more than willing to learn though, and get their hands dirty - reeeally
dirty! As you can see, they did an amazing job...
On Saturday night, we went to Momentos Montreal for some Halloween dancing!
Winter is hot at POINT3! In December we’ll celebrate Christmas with
our annual Christmas party, and try snowshoeing and tobogganing during
the holiday break. Come and see us in Montreal and take advantage of our
winter special: register for 4 weeks and get the 5th week FREE!

Educere International College - Calgary, Alberta
We
enjoyed a variety of activities this month at EIC. At the beginning of
this month the students went bowling with Patrick and Cheryl. Then, Barbara
and our Japanese students showed us all how to make Sushi. It was a learning
experience for everyone. We had great fun trying to get our sushi to stay
rolled and look like Barbara’s or the other Japanese students. Once
they showed us a few tricks we were able to manage better. Patrick also
took the students to the video arcade at Eau Claire. We were forced to
cancel our mid month snowboarding trip when the ski hill closed due to
warm temperatures and not enough snow. We went to the Calgary Zoo instead.
We are hoping to reschedule in December and will hope we have enough snow
next time we schedule it. As for the last week of November
we are going curling at the Calgary Curling Club. La Dawn Funk, one time
world junior champion and now an instructor at Educere will help coach
the students in learning how to curl.
The students also organized several dinners out
including both Japanese and German foods. They also went to the 12 days
of Christmas at Heritage Park. Students not able to make it to the 12
days of Christmas at Heritage Park will have another chance in December.

Remembering Remembrance Day
In
Canada, November 11th is the day we celebrate all the veterans who fought
for freedom in wars. This year we had a special guest speaker, Lloyd Handerson,
tell our students about the red poppies we wear on this day. A minute
of silence was taken to remember those who lost their lives and to wish
for peace on Earth for everyone.

Christmas is almost
here!
Many events are under way for another very busy Christmas season at CSLI.
The choir has already begun rehearsals for their performances around Vancouver
in December. We will all be going for breakfast at the Pan Pacific Hotel
December 1st to deliver a new toy to a child in need for Christmas, and
we have many fundraising events planned to help the needy all over the
world. Our famous actors and actresses are starting rehearsals for their
performance at our big Christmas party on December 23rd. Friday activities
will include IMAX Christmas movies, Christmas train, making Christmas
decorations, Christmas cocktail making, Christmas Museum tour, going to
Whistler to see the snow, and much more. CSLI will be open most of the
Christmas season, so our students will not be lonely. Please join us if
you can.
