Educere International
College - Calgary, Alberta
April
was a fine, warm month in Calgary and all the students have taken advantage
of Spring. Everyone joined in for Ukrainian Egg painting and we showed
artistic talent from Laos, Korea, Hungary, Quebec, Vietnam and Japan.
The process was pains taking and the results were superb. We also went
for Thai food this month and learned from Bo how to order and manage
to get a group discount. This was a new experience for several of our
Korean students and for our French Canadians.
The excursion this month was to Lake Louise and to Banff. Activities
included hiking at Lake Minnawanka, a gondola ride up Sulphur Mountain
and for the less adventurous shopping. We had buffalo burgers at the
Rose and Crown and tea at the top of Sulphur Mountain a celebration
of nations in the Mountains.
This Friday we are hosting an International Activity Day
at EIC for all international students in Calgary. Activities include
games, draws, prizes and an international buffet. Barbara will be leaving
us this month for two months of working in Dresden Germany. She promises
to connect with all of our old German students. Watch for our brand
new web-site and learn more about EIC in the new decade.

Canadian as a
Second Language Institute - Vancouver, British Columbia
Academics rule the school!
This
spring at CSLI, the specialty classes at CSLI were as popular as ever.
The TOEFL preparation course, Business/TOEIC course, and Listening and
Pronunciation course were the most popular. TOEFL students tested each
other on some of the 500 vocabulary words that they learned recently!
CSLI will be adding several new courses for our summer programs that
will sure to stimulate students who are serious about their studies
with new and unique subjects. Special thanks to all of our guest speakers
this month including an SPCA representative, and several Canadians who
spoke about cross cultural experiences.
Where
are the Easter Eggs???
The hunt was on this Easter for the hundreds of chocolate Easter eggs
that were hidden throughout CSLI! The winners were Hideki Ota and Azusa
????? from Japan, who won one pound of chocolate each for their efforts.
CSLI was closed over Easter and we hope those of you who celebrate this
occasion had a wonderful time with family and friends.

POINT3 Language
Centre - Montreal, Quebec
April showers bring May flowers...or
so we hope! April also brought Montreal a few snow flurries, but we
are now well on our way to the warmth of a true Spring. You can just
feel the city basking in the sunshine. Easter
at POINT3
We decorated eggs for the occasion,
using paints, markers, feathers, paper, and whatever else we could find!

Montreal Expos' home-opener week-end
It's baseball season once again - so it MUST be Spring! And POINT3
was at the Olympic Stadium to cheer on our boys of summer. The Montreal
Expos did us proud by defeating the Philadelphia Phillies 2-0. You could
join us at the next ball game! Register on-line at any time,

Summer is a great time to visit Montreal and study English and French
at the POINT3 Language Center. The city's streets come alive with the
sounds of the jazz festival, the laughter of the comedy festival and
the roar of the Grand Prix! Study during the day and see the city at
night...

Interlangues
Language School - Ottawa, Ontario
It's
May and you know what that means? TULIPS! On May 6th the Tulip Festival
will begin. Our students have already started to sign up to do volunteer
work at this year's festival. The Tulip Festival is a great opportunity
for the students to practice their English with native speakers. The
festival needs volunteers and the students want to help. They will greet
people at the gates, set up stages for the many concerts, and sell souvenirs.
This will also be our activity for May - visiting the festival and having
lunch amongst the Tulips. Every year, the Kingdom of Holland sends a
million tulip bulbs to Ottawa, the National's Capital to thank Canada
for its participation in the liberation of Holland from Nazi occupation
on May 5th, 1945.
On a different note,
Interlangues is very pleased to announce that is now certified to offer
the TOEIC® test to its students! This means that if you are currently
studying with us, or if you register for our TOEIC® Test
preparation course, you will be able to finish your course by taking
the test. Contact us today for more information!

TOEIC
SCORE INCREASE BY 300 POINTS
Canadian College again hosted Meiji University students for their annual
spring trip to sunny Victoria. Canadian College President, Gerry La
Belle, received a thank you letter last week congratulating staff and
instructors for a job well done. Two separate groups of students attended
Intensive Business English classes for one month and then wrote an Official
TOEIC Test. Most students reported an increase of between 100 and 300
points! Wow, that was fantastic news back home. Congratulations to all
students who attended again this year. For information about our Business

second annual Study Abroad Canada friday afternoon fishing tournament
was another great success. It was a beautiful, warm and sunny day. Everyone
caught fish and this year's winner was Rodolfo from Chile. Rodolfo amazed
everyone by catching a 2.5 kg rainbow trout. Many of the students enjoyed
their fish on the barbeque at the lake, while others took the fish home
to their host family.
Our Study Tour program is back in full swing. This is a great way to
practice your english, participate in cultural activities, and visit
some of the well known travel destinations on Prince Edward Island.
