Educere International College - Calgary, Alberta
Taiwan, French Canada, Agentina, Mexico, Germany and Korea compete in the international Bonspeil at the Calgary Curling Club. La Dawn Funk, one time world junior champion and now an instructor at Educere, coached the team.

The team was notably bruised and stiff the next day but all agreed that it was a great experience and lots of fun. We did notice that Seymour cheated a little but even that was overlooked by the coach. It was noted that the Germans and the French Canadians were superior at play! Human perfectibility and charm seem to account for this winning combination.

KIOSK International - Toronto, Ontario
After a long week of studies, KIOSK students like to wind down and have some fun or pursue some cultural activities on the weekend. Because KIOSK is located in the heart of Toronto, there are many, many choices for students. One of the most popular activities is the Friday night combo: free admission to the ROM, Toronto's museum of natural history, followed by a free jazz concert at the University of Toronto campus. A great way to start the weekend! Both the ROM and U of T are just a 5 minute walk from KIOSK. Come to KIOSK, and experience the wonders of Toronto!

Why do students come to KIOSK? Excellent academic choices, that's why! Students choose to study in the program stream that best suits their personal needs. Going to university or college? Then English for Academic Purposes is for you! Other choices are English for Business & Technology, English for Everyday Life, and a complete series of official High School credit programs. Interlangues Language Centre - Ottawa, Ontario
We ended February on a high note, celebrating Winterlude, Ottawa's winter festival. The director of the school, Christiane and Dave, one of the teachers, took the students to the Rideau Canal where they enjoyed skating on the world's longest skating rink. They all enjoyed the great cultural experience of skating on the canal, eating the traditional Beaver Tails™, and experiencing hot apple cider.

Our ESL department is now accepting registrations for our new Working Holiday English Program. We have had many questions about this new course. It is a preparatory class for those who come to Canada with a working holiday visa or those who hope to be able to work in the future. The course will cover such things as resume writing, cover letters, interview strategies, and looking for the right job. Videotaped role-plays will be part of this preparation.

February is Black History month in North America. This year Interlangues celebrated with an interactive workshop on Black inventors, presented by one of our English teachers, Althea.

One more point to note is that as of March 1st, our location will be 130 Albert Street, downtown Ottawa. Our phone numbers and email addresses will remain the same. We look forward to seeing you at our new campus!

POINT3 Language Centre - Montreal, Quebec
Can it be March already? And February was a little longer this year (thanks to Leap Year) - I guess time really does fly when you're having fun...

The Field School Group
We started the month off with a group of students from the Field School of Washington, D.C.; they were here to study French through an organization called Cultural Homestays International, or CHI. Along with their classes, activities were planned throughout the week to enable them to experience as much of Montreal as possible...and they experienced a lot!

Quebec Winter Carnival
Our weekend in Quebec City during Winter Carnival was great, where temperatures were not nearly as frigid as in the past couple of years (thank goodness!) - we were always thankful to make it back to our bus, though! We visited the Ice Hotel and the breathtaking Montmorency Falls as well. Beautiful!

Jam Session
Our February jam session was a lot of fun! We sang, played guitar (well, most of us listened), drums and cymbals, tapped rhythms on bowls and tables.

Canadian as a Second Language Institute - Vancouver, British Columbia

Internships more popular than ever!
This spring at CSLI was a very busy time for our Internship department. Some of the companies we placed internships with were: Investors Group, The University of British Columbia Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Precision Laboratories, Delphi Solutions, Scotia McLeod, Seatrade Shipping, The Beach House, The Vancouver International Children Festival. Being in real-life situations in these various companies has afforded the many participants a fantastic opportunity to improve their English and get practical experience.

Canadian College of Business and Language - Victoria, British Columbia

VICTORIA, B.C. - CANADA'S CALIFORNIA
Canadian College staff and students celebrated to the news once again that Victoria, British Columbia has been listed in the Conde Nast Traveler Magazine as one of the top cities to visit in North America and among the top ten (10) cities in the world. The region's beaches, dramatic views of the Olympic Mountains, kayaking, sailing, scuba diving, golfing and cycling paths all add to the charm of this clean and safe British-like city of heritage buildings.

PINK SNOW?? NO, CHERRY BLOSSOMS!!
February students, in particular, Japanese students, experienced a big surprise! Victoria is a year-round destination. "I had no idea!", said Satoshi, a student here for one month. It's a Canadian city where the flowers bloom 12 months of the year and pink petals from Japanese cherry blossom trees from Yokohama blanket the ground every February. No snow here!! Only pink petals.......

MEIJI UNIVERSITY AT CANADIAN COLLEGE
Once again, Tokyo's prestigious Meiji University sent it's annual February group of Business students to participate in Canadian College's Intensive Business English Program for a fourth year. The students ended their one month program with an Official TOEIC Test followed by a graduation party complete with tons of pizza, Canadian beer and Karaoke singing well into the evening. Another Meiji group starts March 1st. Program information can be found at:
