Open Hearts for Children in Need
Many fundraising events happened this month, as we are sponsoring one
of our homestay families again this summer on their annual journey to
Mexico to help an orphanage. We are also raising money to send books
and school supplies to a school in the Philippines. August fundraisers
will include many Olympic events to raise money for other charities.

Mr. and Ms. CSLI
CSLI
had its big graduation party
at a restaurant this month and bought lunch for over 200 students while
they were all entertained by our big Mr and Ms CSLI contest. Congratulations
to all of our contestants from around the world who did an amazing job
at modeling, joke telling, showing a talent, and reading a love poem.
The $100 first prizes went to Jairo Carrasco from the Dominican Republic
and Carla Romero from Bolivia. Also, congratulations to July's Student
of the Month, Clarice Souza from Brazil, who won a 4-week scholarship
to CSLI.

KIOSK International
- Toronto, Ontario
Summer
in Toronto is the time to discover and experience sensational activities.
Long days, warm evenings and new Canadians from over 150 countries fill
the streets with music, festivals and food! Restaurants, pubs, cafes,
fashion stores and happy, friendly people are what Toronto is. The lakefront
has many beaches for swimming and sports, and parks to play in and have
picnics. Shopping, nightlife, sports, concerts and so much more! Toronto
has it all! And, best of all, KIOSK's central location is in the heart
of Toronto, surrounded by all the urban bustle, 24 hours a day!
"KIOSK gave me the best experience of my life" (Denisse, Veracruz,
Mexico). KIOSK Language Centre's experienced teachers and interesting
courses build confidence in speaking English. The friendly activity
leader and homestay families create a fun environment for students from
9 to 65 years old in camp and adult programs. KIOSK High School helped
12 International students earn Grade 12 credits as preparation for University.
We're thrilled to have students in our ESL, TOEFL and English for Business
classes from Europe as well as Asia, Saudi Arabia, South America, and
our near neighbours, Quebec and Mexico.
Start EVERY Monday.

Interlangues Language School - Ottawa,
Ontario
Activities
galore!
Our summer children and teen programs have more activities per week
than the intensive program. The
students continue to enjoy twice-weekly ventures out of the school to
play on the beach, kick around the soccer ball, go out for pub nights,
to name just a few. Given the number of activities we've had this year,
we were pleased to have the help of some ESL teachers-in-training and
conversation partners. These monitors gave the teens the opportunity
to meet and speak with native speakers their own age, as well as giving
some well-appreciated help to the teachers on our excursions. The trip
to Toronto was a great success with monitors from Kiosk kindly showing
our Ottawa students around the city. It is a great opportunity to visit
other cities and have a guide sensitive to a language learner's needs.
We also went to Upper Canada Village, a quaint village that relives
the 1860's everyday throughout the summer months.
As the summer slips away, more and more of our students are planning
to stay long-term. We look forward to watching our students progress
toward to their goals, and await new arrivals. This is the best time
to make lasting friendships!

Educere International College - Calgary,
Alberta
We
had many
different nationalities this month with students from Argentina, Brazil,
China, Congo, France, Japan, Korea, Libya, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Spain,
Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. This Global community merged
to create 2 classes of BECC and BE Lite along with our traditional ESL
courses. The synergy and diversity of our classes has presented us with
a wide range of perspectives from which to grow together and to improve
our inter-cultural understanding and sensitivity. Together we have enjoyed
a Taste of Calgary, Canoeing at Emerald Lake, the Royal Tyrell in Drumheller
and the joy of eating Spanish, Thai and Vietnamese food together. It
has been a great summer of living and learning together.

Victoria Voted Best City
Condé
Nast Traveler magazine has voted Victoria best city in the Americas.
Cities are rated on various criteria, including ambience, friendliness,
culture/ sites, restaurants, lodging and shopping. Victoria scored 96
out of 100 in ambience, second in the world only to Carmel, California.
Canadian College President Gerry LaBelle said, "We are already
a world destination for education, but being awarded best city in the
Americas confirms that travellers recognize that Victoria is a world-class
vacation destination. We are seeing an increased demand for education
and cultural vacation mix thus drawing more students to this spectacular
city."
