Specialty programs
a.. English for Business is for anyone who needs to use English at work. You will discuss case studies, practise meeting procedures and learn about the Canadian business environment. You will build vocabulary and improve your accent by making presentations and asking classmates questions about their countries and their workplace. Add to this a conversation class, writing class or TOEIC class for a full program.
b.. TOEFL test preparation: Students will study advanced level reading, writing and listening skills. Once a week, you will try the TOEFL test to see the areas in which you still need practice.
c.. Summer Camp for teenagers: English + activities in July and August. Young people area invited to come to Toronto to learn English, meet new friends and have a great time exploring the city.

Business English Communication and Culture (BECC) Schedule

Specialty programs
Business English Communication and Culture (BECC)
We have an excellent Business English Communication and Culture course that you may be interested in. This 25-hour per week, intensive Business English program has been specifically designed for young professionals and corporate clients. It includes 8 modules of study with practical applications in speaking, reading and writing for the workplace. The program duration is 8 weeks. During these 8 weeks you will cover the 8 modules of the course outlined in the brochure (Mind your own Business, The Global Manager, Making the Deal, The Effective Manager, Marketing 101, Growing up (acquisitions, mergers, retail), The Worldly Entrepreneur, and The Product is You.) The classes run Monday to Thursday from 12:30 pm to 5:15 pm and Friday class from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and free Friday activities in the afternoon. Our programs are ongoing so you could start the first Monday of any week.

Internship Program
This internship is available once students have successfully completed all the modules of the Business English Communication and Culture program. It provides students with approximately 100 hours of onsite experience in a North American company. Our Internship Coordinator will skillfully select the most appropriate work site for your background and experience. To complete this program, students must obtain a Student Permit and must qualify for a Temporary Work Visa.

Language Tools Programs (ESL Course)
We also have an excellent ESL program here at Educere! Our ESL courses are very popular intensive English programs with 20, 25 or 30 hours of instructions per week.
Students may choose between two totally independent streams:
a. Language Tools - Communicative English with a focus on Listening and Speaking
b. Language Tools - Functional English with a focus on content based learning for further education, academic programs and English for the workplace.
Both streams include instruction in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Study Hours

a. 30 hours per week - Instruction from Monday to Friday + Free Friday activities
b. 25 hours per week - Instruction from Monday to Friday + Free Friday activities
c. 20 hours per week - Instruction Monday to Thursday (does not include Friday activities)
Most students register for the intensive and all inclusive 25-hour per week program which comes with FREE Friday activities. Students not willing to participate in activities should register for the 20-hour/week program. The 20-hour per week program has been designed for participants who want to take advantage of a three-day long week-end to discover Alberta.

Teaching Training
TESL Certificate and Diploma Course
Educere International College is the Western campus for Study Abroad Canada’s TESL/TEFL Certificate Program. Our program is designed for Canadian and International University graduates who are interested in Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language (TESL/TEFL).
This course is recognized by TESL Canada. Participants who successfully complete this program receive a certificate from TESL Canada. The program is 13 weeks in duration; intake is 3 times a year (February, May and September). The course is seminar based and unlike some other accredited programs, we offer 100 hours of teaching. Students should expect a minimum of 18 hours of course work and reading per week (self directed) combined with 2 hours of class tutorial per week.

Corporate Training
For the past 10 years, Educere International College has been providing customized English language training programs for multinational companies and the local business community. Our methodology is based on a step-by-step skills building process which is customized to the needs of our individual corporate clients.

Many multinational companies who have their head office in Calgary have relied on Educere’s proven teaching methodology to train their international staff.
Some popular options include our Communication Skills training and our Valuing Diversity evening course. Courses are based on availability and subject to minimum class sizes.

Summer Youth Programs
We’ve designed two summer programs for youth aged 14 to 17 years old. Participants may register for either 2 or 4 weeks. Customized packages are available. Students stay with selected host families (private bedroom, 3 meals/day).

Summer Study Tours
July - Western Cowboy Study Tour (18+)
The Calgary Stampede is a world renowned event. Calgary is situation where the foothills meet the prairies and only a short drive from the majestic Rocky Mountains. Calgary is the ideal place to discover the fascinating living environment & culture of modern cowboys.
The Western Cowboy Study Tour combines English courses (21 hours per week) with exciting activities related to the Cowboy theme (e.g. Heritage Park Tour, Stampede Breakfast & Stampede Rodeo, Western Cooking & Barbeque, Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump, etc.).

August - Rocky Mountain Study Tour (18+)
Calgary is only one hour and thirty minutes away from the majestic Rocky Mountains. This study tour includes English courses in the class (15 to 20 hours per week), local activities and one-day excursions to the scenic Rocky Mountains.

TOEIC® & TOEFL® Preparation
Students interested in taking any of these English tests (TOEFL or TOEIC) should meet with the Program Coordinator.

A preparation program with self-directed English lessons will be developed based on your initial English level and your objectives. This service is available to ESL students already registered in the Language Tools (ESL) or Business English Communication and Culture programs.
